Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle
Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle
The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle is the Festival’s longest novice hurdle. Introduced in 2005 with the fourth day and originally sponsored by Brit Insurance, it’s registered as the Spa Novices’ Hurdle.
The race has produced future stars, including Gold Cup winners Bobs Worth and Minello Indo, and the 2018–2020 Stayers’ Hurdle winners, including Penhill, all ran here first.
At Fishers Cross was the last favourite to win in 2013; since then, beaten favourites include Briar Hill, Santini, Hillcrest, and Readin Tommy Wrong. Meanwhile, longshots have thrived: four 33/1 winners and Minello Indo at 50/1 since 2010.
