The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is the championship race for 2-mile novice hurdlers and traditional curtain-raiser to the Festival.

A novice is a horse that has yet to win, in its discipline (hurdles or fences), before the start of the current season.

Horses that win this race usually go on to bigger and better things.
