Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle
Pertemps Final
The Pertemps Final is the Festival’s only staying handicap hurdle and always attracts a big field.
Established in 1974 as the Coral Golden Hurdle Final, it’s run over the same course and distance as the Stayers’ Hurdle and often produces a thrilling finish. Horses qualify by finishing in the top four of a Pertemps Series race during the season, guaranteeing their place in the Final.
Dual winner Sire Du Berlais (2019/20) later won the Stayers’ Hurdle in 2023. Other recent winners, Presenting Percy (2017) and Delta Work (2018), went on to Grade 1 success over fences. Gordon Elliott trained three consecutive winners (2018–20), including first and second in both 2018 and 2020. Festival stalwarts Buena Vista (2010/11) and Sire Du Berlais were also dual winners, with Fingal Bay (2014) and Sire Du Berlais (2020) carrying top weight to victory.
